The Solar System

Take a tour of the solar system with Paxi. Then, create a model of the solar system on paper.

Solar System Poster
Materials

  • 2 Sheets of Black Construction Paper

  • Pencil

  • Colored Pencils, Markers or Crayons

  • Glue stick

  • Aluminum Foil

  • Optional: Plate

  • Optional: Hole Puncher

  • Printable Cutout Sheets for this Activity (Found at Bottom of "Week 3" Site Page)

Step 1

Cut out the sun and and the planets from the printable cutout sheets, then color them in.

Attach the two black sheets of paper together using tape. Glue the sun in the bottom left corner.

Draw eight orbits using a pencil. You can use a plate for the first couple of orbits. Use a marker to go over the orbit lines.

Step 4

Glue the planets to the orbit lines in the following order: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune. Also glue the labels next to each planet.

Use a hole puncher to make "stars" out of aluminum foil (or tear small pieces of aluminum foil off a sheet of aluminum foil).  Glue these background stars to the poster around the planets.

You have now finished your solar system poster! If you want to, you can glue the poster to cardboard and/or hang it up on the wall.
